Kentlands/Lakelands 5K Race, Walk & Fun Run

The 5K Race and Fun Run is the Foundation’s largest fundraising event, is the largest 5K road race in Montgomery County, and draws more than 1,400 participants to the area. The run is combined with a Merchant Expo, family activities, music, and other festivities. In keeping with our philanthropic mission, a significant portion of the proceeds raised is donated to worthwhile charities within Montgomery County including the Dolores C. Swoyer Scholarship Fund which provides sponsorship for low-income families’ children to attend the city led summer camp, Mercy Health Clinic which provides medical care to the uninsured and the underinsured, Gaithersburg HELP which assists clients with food, transportation, prescription medications, and other basic needs, the Maryland Senior Olympics which provides sporting competitions for ages 50+, and GPARC which supports parks and arts & recreation initiatives in Gaithersburg.
