As a program of the Kentlands Community Foundation, the gallery is committed to cultivating creativity, building community, and expanding access to the arts

MINDFULNESS PRACTICES IN MARK MAKING - $50

Join us for a creative mindfulness and mark-making workshop using natural materials, traditional art media, and nature-inspired design practices. This experiential art workshop invites participants to slow down, reconnect creatively, and explore expressive art-making in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Create original designs inspired by nature and handmade creative processes while engaging with mindfulness-based art practices focused on observation, texture, movement, and playful experimentation. This workshop encourages curiosity, relaxation, and creative expression without pressure, perfectionism, or performance. Samples, natural studies, materials, and guided prompts will be provided. Whether you are new to art or have years of creative experience, this workshop is designed to help rekindle a sense of play, reflection, and creative renewal.

Gaithersburg Artist Collective – Member FAQs

  • Membership is determined through a competitive jurying process. Not all applicants will be accepted, but all applications are carefully reviewed.

    Prospective members can apply here

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. To apply, you must submit:

    • A completed application form

    • An artist statement

    • A resume

    • 8–10 images of your original artwork (please do not submit classwork)

    All visual arts mediums (2D and 3D) are welcome to apply. The current application fee is $50.

    Prospective members can apply here

  • No. There is no residency requirement to become a member.

  • A 30% commission is retained by the Gaithersburg Artist Collective on all artwork sales. These funds support gallery operations and programming. The Kentlands Community Foundation facilitates the sales process.

  • Yes. Members are required to pay monthly dues.

  • In order to participate in the collective, in addition to paying dues, and gallery-sitting, members must play an active role on committees - one as a team lead, and one as a supporting member.
