This is an introduction to Chinese Brush painting with spontaneous flower painting focused on the classic seasonal flower, the Wild Grass Orchid.
We will start painting with mushrooms, a symbol of longevity and prosperity, to familiarize with Eastern supplies and methods - ink, inkstone, rice paper and natural-hair bamboo-handled brushes. We will move on to practice painting the graceful orchid, the symbol of feminine grace, humility and elegance. Participants will focus on basic stroking, brush loading, ink-to-water ratio and the principles of spontaneous flower-bird brush painting and Eastern composition.
