MINDFULNESS PRACTICES IN MARK MAKING - $50

Join us for a creative mindfulness and mark-making workshop using natural materials, traditional art media, and nature-inspired design practices. This experiential art workshop invites participants to slow down, reconnect creatively, and explore expressive art-making in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Create original designs inspired by nature and handmade creative processes while engaging with mindfulness-based art practices focused on observation, texture, movement, and playful experimentation. This workshop encourages curiosity, relaxation, and creative expression without pressure, perfectionism, or performance. Samples, natural studies, materials, and guided prompts will be provided. Whether you are new to art or have years of creative experience, this workshop is designed to help rekindle a sense of play, reflection, and creative renewal.

Seasonal Photo Walk Series—Summer - Light & Shadow (Golden Hour / Sunset) - $45

The Summer—Light&Shadow series will focus on natural light and mood. Participants will explore: • How light direction affects mood • Silhouettes, backlighting, and contrast • Warm tones and storytelling through light. Objective: Use light creatively, not just correctly

The Seasonal Photo Walk Series is a guided, hands-on photography experience designed for adults who want to explore creativity, improve their visual storytelling, and connect with their environment. Each session takes place during a different time of day and focuses on a unique photographic objective, allowing participants to build skills progressively while experiencing the changing light, mood, and rhythm of each season. Participants can use DSLR/mirrorless cameras or smartphones, no prior experience required.

Intro to Alcohol Ink Painting - $45

Learn to use alcohol ink, the vibrant medium that is painted on non-porous surfaces.

Participants will learn techniques such as dropping ink and spreading it with a straw and will go home with a finished painted tile and alcohol ink painting on Yupo paper.

Please bring a smock or wear an old shirt.

Welcome to Splotch Monster Island - $40

Using watercolors and other mixed media, we will create Splotch Monsters - imaginary beasts made from watercolor splotches. We will do some brief observational sketching, some painting, as well as some fun collaborative exercises. Participants will go home with several original works of art. A few impromptu raffles will take place as well, towards the end of the session.

Fiber Collage - $40

Participants will explore the stitching process, making a collage with burlap and stitching with colorful threads. Using a rectangular piece of burlap as a base, we will cut small pieces of burlap, embroidering with lots of colorful threads.

All materials are included. No experience needed.

Lush Landscapes - $75

Participants will create an original mixed media collage landscape in just three hours while enjoying wine and snacks. No previous experience is required. Participants must bring Photo ID for wine. Red and white wines will be provided. Wear an apron or old clothes. Otherwise, all materials are provided.

Now in its 33rd year, the Kentlands | Lakelands 5K Run, Walk, and Kids Fun Run is a beloved community tradition hosted by the Kentlands Community Foundation.

The race has become the most significant 5K event in Montgomery County and a beloved community tradition that brings together residents, families, athletes, and volunteers to celebrate community, wellness, and philanthropy.

The event draws over 1,500 runners and walkers, 300+ children in the Kids Run and Tot Trot, and more than 2,000 spectators and community members who join us for the post-race festival, which features live music, food vendors, giveaways, and family-friendly fun.
